Hanna Csermely

23-year-old pianist, Hanna Csermely, started learning the piano aged 7. From a young age, she competed and won many prizes in local Music Festivals including Southampton, Gosport and Portsmouth. Her successes lead her to winning the award for ‘Most Promising Pianist’ by Mark Tanner and performing at the King’s Theatre in Portsmouth.
Aged 16, she was successful in her audition for the Hampshire Specialist Music Course where she studied under Dr Samantha Carrasco and performed frequently. Highlights included participating in a masterclass at Steinway Hall with Steinway Artist, Charles Owen, gaining a distinction in her ARSM Diploma and performing Shostakovich 2nd Piano Concerto.
During her undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Helen Krizos, Hanna performed extensively in notable venues including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Festetics Castle (Hungary) and Grieg Piano Concerto in Dorchester Abbey. Her interest in collaborating with other musicians also led to being awarded Accompanist Prizes in the Williams Howard Competition, Bessie Cronshaw Song Cycle Competition, Underrepresented Competition and the James Martin Oncken Song Prize. She completed her Bachelors in Music with Honours and continued at the RNCM for a one-year intensive Masters degree in solo and collaborative piano where she was grateful to have received support from the Margaret Allen Piano Award and Help Musicians UK. During her intensive postgraduate studies, Hanna was a finalist at the London Schubert Song Prize with William Jowett (duo partner), as well as performing at Leeds Song Festival and winner of the Norman George Prize for Violin and Piano (with duo partner Georgie Bloomfield).
Hanna has relocated to Hampshire, enjoying a varied career in teaching and performing with exciting upcoming opportunities including a performance of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto with orchestra and performances with duo partners and ensembles for prestigious music societies around the country.
