Sofia Reznikova – Piano from The Royal Academy of Music

Sofia Reznikova is a Russian pianist whose artistic interests span from Baroque to 20th-
century music, with a particular focus on Romantic and Russian composers. Recent performance highlights include recording Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto with the Royal Academy of Music Orchestra during a conducting workshop and performing Schumann’s First Piano Sonata at St Michael’s Church in Highgate. Before coming to London, Sofia achieved success at several competitions, including the international Talents Grand Prix piano competition, Young Talents of Russia, and the Lvova All-Russian Piano Competition.

At the Royal Academy of Music, where she is currently a third-year undergraduate and
recipient of the Alexis Gregory Award, Sofia has developed a strong passion for
collaboration. Drawing inspiration from vocal music, she particularly enjoys working
with singers. Her enthusiasm for instrumental chamber music led to the formation of
the Vigoroso Trio with fellow students from the Academy. The ensemble was highly
commended in the Craxton Competition for its performance of Mendelssohn’s Second
Piano Trio and will appear in concert this November at the Angela Burgess Recital Hall
and St Michael’s Church, performing works by Georgy Sviridov and Rebecca Clarke.
In addition to her work with the Vigoroso Trio, Sofia performed Shostakovich’s Second
Piano Trio at the PYFA Festival in Wales this summer. She looks forward to further
collaborations with musicians from the Festival, including upcoming performances
with a Dutch cellist.
Sofia is indebted to her piano professor, Rustem Hayroudinoff, and coaches Diana
Ketler, Jim Sleigh, Marije Johnson, Adrian Brendel, and Florian Mitrea. To broaden her
musical horizons and gain further performance experience, she participated in the First
Spring Academy in Cambridge and the Crescendo Summer Festival in Hungary in 2024.
