Mimi Raleigh is an English-born pianist currently going into her third-year BMus at
the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying under Head of Keyboard John
Thwaites. Mimi began her pianistic journey at aged 10, achieving Distinction in Grade
8 just three years later. She attained her ARSM diploma aged 15. Prior to the Royal
Birmingham Conservatoire, she has been in numerous performances, such as public
musicals, masterclasses, concerts, and general ensembles. She was the pianist for her
secondary school choir for two years, the pianist for the Hampshire County Jazz
Orchestra back in 2019, participated in multiple NYO inspire workshops, and a
workshop with jazz musician Nikki Iles. One of the masterclasses that she participated
in resulted in a scholarship with the Pianomann Scholarship Scheme at Blüthner
Pianos, Marylebone, London for a year, studying under founder Richard Meyrick,
before being granted a music scholarship at her sixth form, Bryanston School, Dorset.
There, she was given countless performance opportunities, such as performing a
movement of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with members of the
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, becoming a finalist in the Robert Saxton
Competition twice, and multiple concert performances. Since being at the
Conservatoire, Mimi has been able to participate in performances such as the
Ulverston Music Festival in the Lake District, performing in the French-inspired
Concert Series at the Conservatoire under the visiting pianist Pascal Rogé, and was a
recent finalist of the Dennis Matthews Competition.
