Winter is upon us, with all the variety of changeable weather to cope with.
However, there’s much to look forward to in this year’s series of “Perfect Pitch” Concerts beginning on 24th April.
2024 was a huge success, thanks to your wonderful support, when our average weekly attendance was 70. Let’s see if that can be beaten!
The website will be updated with much of the coming season’s concert in the next few weeks, but in the meantime, one of our star student performers Rose Gosney, has provided news of her amazing musical journey last year. You can read her news below. You’ll be pleased to know Rose will give her concert this year on 1st May at 12.30 in The Chapel of St Cross.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and very best wishes.

It’s been a very busy few months since my last concert at St Cross, and I wanted to share some of the highlights from recent performances and experiences. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to perform in the live audition and the quarter finals of BBC Young Musician of the Year. The experience was both challenging and rewarding, from preparing my pieces to performing for the judges. It really pushed me musically and mentally, and I came away having learned so much.

This summer, I had the privilege of leading the National Youth Orchestra at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall. Performing on such an iconic stage with extraordinary musicians was so fun and a moment I’ll always remember.
In September, I began my music degree at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Professor Robin Wilson – so far it has been so enjoyable and challenging. Another memorable moment was performing as the spotlight artist at the We Are One Charity Concert in Mayfair’s Devonshire House. The event, organised in partnership with Save the Children and Florian Leonhard Violins, was a beautiful evening for an important cause, and it was a privilege to contribute. More recently, I performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto at a sold-out concert at Beaulieu Abbey. The setting, stunning acoustics and warm audience made it such a special occasion, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who attended.
Looking ahead, I will be performing the Korngold Violin Concerto with Magna Sinfonia in Bournemouth on 8th February. I’ll also be returning to the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto for a performance at Romsey Abbey in July and playing the Bruch Violin Concerto with Southampton Concert Orchestra at the Turner Sims Concert Hall in October. Alongside these, I’m excited to begin work on the iconic Elgar Violin Concerto—it’s a piece I’ve always admired and can’t wait to explore. I’m grateful for all the support and encouragement from the community and the audiences at St Cross—it truly means a lot, and I look forward to seeing you all in May.
