St Peter’s Primary School, Winchester
At St Peter’s Primary School, music is a central part of our school life. We have over 130 children receiving instrumental lessons each week, and we are extremely proud of our school orchestra. This ensemble consists of thirty of our instrumentalists ranging from age 8 to 11. We rehearse weekly after school, and play a range of styles and genres. As developing musicians, the orchestra offers a wonderful opportunity for children to play together and develop their instrumental and ensemble skills.
St Peter’s Primary have recently been made a Lead School for Music in Hampshire. This appointment recognises our commitment to music and the power that this has in young people’s lives. We work closely with Hampshire Music Hub to support other schools in their music provision and to promote good practice. We do hope you enjoy our concert, and that you experience a little of the joy that making music brings to us!
