Megan Humphries – Harp – Royal Academy of Music

Megan Humphries is an award winning young harpist who has performed across the United Kingdom in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Royall Festival Hall, and The Barbican. A regular performer for social events, she has played at events like the National Wedding Show, at venues like Leeds Castle and Spencer House and for names like the Duchess of Gloucester, the Archbishop of York John Sentamu and Jacob Collier.

An impassioned orchestral player, Megan has played under the batons of celebrated conductors, including Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson, and Kirill Karabits. Recently, she recorded with the world-famous Black Dyke Brass Band and she regularly works alongside orchestras like Brixton Chamber Orchestra, The London Phoenix Orchestra and The Orchestra of the City. Working in the pit, she has also performed in productions such as Wagner’s Die Walküre, Guettel’s A Light in the Piazza and worked with new composers to premiere new operas.

Megan was recently announced as the Mrs Sunderland Huddersfield Young Musician of the Year 2024 and in 2020, she was announced as one of the Pendle Young Musician’s Bursary winners. She’s very grateful for their ongoing support.

Megan is a current postgraduate scholar of the Royal Academy of Music studying with Suzy Willison-Kawalec, having graduated from her undergraduate studies with Honours in 2023. She previously studied with Claire Jones, former harpist to HRH Prince of Wales and best-selling Classic FM artist.
